I am Memphis born and raised,
a University of Alabama graduate and have been a full time resident of Hot Springs since 1979.  I have been married to Howard, a lifelong Hot Springs resident, for over 30 years and have two sons, one is married and runs our cattle farm plus is a youth minister, and the other is a student at Arkansas State University.  I became involved as a charter member of Hot Springs Chapter and have served as Activities Officer as well as Treasurer since the 2nd year of the chapter.  I have served as Events Coordinator for the Arkansas State Rally and for the last 2 years as the Site Coordinator. My other civic activities are with the Greater Hot Springs Chamber Of Commerce as an Ambassador since 1989. Howard and I are active members of Hot Springs Baptist Church.   We got involved with HOG when our kids were teenagers, Howard has always ridden and owned a bike and I got on board to rediscover my "wild" side. We have enjoyed the friends and connections we have made thru HOG.

I have been riding motorcycles since 1966.  My wife Annie and I moved to Hot Springs Village in January of 2005.  We joined the Hot Springs HOG Chapter in 2008 and have been active ever since.  I became a Road Captain in 2010 and accepted the position of Head Road Captain for 2012.  My goal is to increase our participation in Chapter Rides.  I feel we have a great group currently but would like to see more members participate in our events.
Our ride goals for 2012 are more riders, more rides, more fun and always save trips home

I joined the HOG chapter in 2006, and found many "kindred spirits" among the members.  Currently ride a 2011 Heritage Softail Classic "Peace Officer's Edition and serving my second term as Membership Officer.  My wife Brenda is also a chapter member and a great "ride-mate" and partner.  To all prospective members, come to a meeting and visit - I think you'll enjoy being a part of the Hot Springs H.O.G.
Activities, Joan Shackelford
Activities, Joan Shackelford I've been a National HOG member for fifteen years and a member of this chapter for four years and I am single. I started riding thirteen years ago. I was married at that time and I told him I was tired of looking at the back of his head.  He taught me to ride then and I've been riding ever since. I am on my fifth Harley, I know what you're thinking and the answer is no, I didn't wreck any of them.  I currently ride a 2009 Softail Deluxe and absolutely love it.  I have made some wonderful lifetime friends along the way, many of which I've met here at our Hot Springs HOG Chapter.

I am married to Allen Anthony (AKA Big Al).  We have been married fourteen years.  Allen convinced me that we needed to buy a Harley Davidson Motorcycle in 2000 and I fell in love with it.  I fell in love with the freedom, the commodity and the lasting friendships that we have found through riding and Harley and being a HOG member.  This has been the greatest experience that we have encountered and each year just gets better and better.

I was raised in Texas and move to Arkansas in 2004.  I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was in my early teens.  We bought our first Harley in 2005 and joined the Hot Springs Chapter shortly after that.  I became a Road Captain in 2007 and Head Road Captain in 2008 - 2011.  Currently we ride a 2008 Ultra Classic.
I am originally from Houston, Texas where I lived all of my life, until moving to Hot Springs 2004.  Starting riding Harley’s in 2005 and joined the HOG group in 2006.  Love riding and spending time with everyone in the Chapter.  This is a great group of people.
Born and raised in Arkansas. My very first motorcycle ride on was a Cushman Eagle when I was about 7 years old. A cousin had taken me for the ride. To a little guy, that was a big bike!  It was in my early teens when I got an Allstate scooter, just about wore that one out. Then later on, my brother got his very first motorcycle. It was a Honda on/off road bike, which I rode quite a bit too. Then later in my early 20’s I bought a Yamaha 350 street bike, rode it for a while and eventually sold it.
In 1981, I was very fortunate to get a job as a corporate aircraft technician and moved to Hot Springs and worked for 27 years. Then due to the economy, the flight department had major downsizing, so I took early retirement. This worked out for the good, because I’m now an aircraft pilot for the Forestry Commission spotting wildfires within the state. I started flying and soloed before graduating high school.
In 2001, I wanted to get back to riding motorcycles. Since then, along the way, I have taken the MSF motorcycle courses and have owned two Goldwing’s, and a BMW K1200LT, which a deer took care that one for me, but that’s another story.
In December 2008, I took delivery of a brand new 2009 FLHTCU, and have been a HOG member ever since. I really enjoy the camaraderie being around my fellow bikers.Brenda and I are active members of the Benton First Church of the Nazarene where I play in the church Orchestra playing the Violin and/or Trumpet, and lead monthly motorcycle rides during the summer months. We really enjoy riding the motorcycle and traveling with our 5th wheel toy hauler seeing the country.
